Hints on Calling Legislators:

* Rarely will you get to talk to the legislator themselves. They are busy people. You will almost always talk to a Legislative Aide who will take your message.

* Give your full name and address. Legislators want to know if you live in their District.

* Keep your message brief and to the point. The Aides can only write so much. Tell them the name and number of the bill you are calling about. Say whether you are in favor or oppose the bill. If you wish, tell them why you feel the way you do. Keep it short, don't go on a long rambling rant.

* Always act professional and intelligent. Your message will be lost if you aren't.

* The whole process takes less than a minute, but can make a world of difference.
