MSA

     Youth

The future of our hunting heritage rests in our youngsters, which is why the MSA is dedicated to providing youth hunting and sporting opportunities.

Over the past year, the MSA has supported the following youth activities & organizations:

Hunter Education Classes
The MSA has teamed up with Deer Creek Archery to offer 2 hunter education classes in June and July. Completing this course will satisfy the DNR Safety Education requirements needed for youngsters buying a hunting license. For more information, please see the Deer Creek website.    >>more>>

  MSA Youth Bow Shoot
Held annually in June, this bow shooting event at the Baltimore Bowmen's is a chance for youth to hone their archery shooting skills and to learn important archery safety tips.

  Youth Hunt Day at J&P
Every summer, the DNR puts together at Youth Day at the J&P Hunting Lodge on the Eastern Shore. This half-day event gives over 100 kids a chance to practice skeet / archery shooting, as well as to listen to guest speakers and view informational booths from many different organizations representing archery, turkey, duck, hounds, law enforcement, and others. The MSA ran a booth which discussed tree stand safety.

  Eagle Scout Project
This summer, the MSA was contacted by Justin who was trying to raise money for his Eagle Scout service project. This young man had a fantastic idea in which he would single handedly build a portable, handicapped accessible duck blind. To view pictures of Justin's final result, click here.

  Charles County 4-H Shooting Club
In December, the MSA was asked to provide financial support to the Charles County 4-H Shooting Club, which runs a 6-month program where 25 youth spend their Saturday's learning the art of sport clay shooting, and train for two competitive clay shooting events.
